• A legal aid and awareness center to provide free legal advice to poor people is going to be set up in the club building in association with Howrah Shivaji Sangh, located near Yogmaya cinema in central Howrah. The auspicious start of this center is going to be official next September 10, 2022.
• It was decided to build this center after discussions at the initiative of Sangh Secretary Shaibal Dasmjumdar recently at Club Bhavan. Prominent lawyer and Professor Bhudev Bhattacharya of Calcutta High Court was present as the moderator of the discussion. Besides, lawyer Debashis Banerjee, non-lawyer Tamal Banerjee, lawyer Ashish Adhya, lawyer Sourav Banerjee, Parmita Bhowmik, Sangh president Sujit Mukherjee and others were present. Former Councilor Saumen Dey was present. On behalf of the Sangh, the committee consists of Sangh President Sujit Babu, Sangh Secretary Shaibal Dasamjumdar, Sanjay Mukhopadhyay, Jayant Mallick, Jyortimoy Adhya, and Maina Mahato. All the lawyers have pledged to take some time out of their busy schedules to join this support center. Such support centers will act as a ray of hope and a breath of fresh air for common people when they are overwhelmed with eviction and separation cases. Lawyers will be present here on certain days of the week to advise the common people if they face any problem and come to this center for help, try to show at least one light to the people who are struggling in the dark. Make them aware of the facilities that are currently available by the government. Bhudevbabu will serve as the chief advisor of this center. According to club sources, the center will be well-initiated by keeping the district session judge of Howrah and the local MLA minister. Note that while clubs are becoming hubs for activities such as watching TV, playing cards, etc. Under the plan of Howrah Shivaji Sangh Secretary Shaibal Dasmjumder, this Sangh has organized an organization called 'Prayas' to supply oxygen cylinders to common people at low cost. This has saved many lives during the epidemic. Apart from this, there is a dance school for well-known dancer Meghmala Das. Shivaji Sangh is involved in various service activities. Legal Aid and Counseling Center is a new addition to these activities.
